UPSC MAINS LANGUAGE PAPER URDU SYLLABUS for 2017

UPSC MAINS LANGUAGE PAPER URDU SYLLABUS: In UPSC MAINS EXAM there are 2 optional papers in UPSC civil services mains exam. In upsc mains examination paper 6&7 are optional subject papers. Urdu is one of the optional paper in the IAS main exam. You can opt for the Urdu language as an optional subject, if you have graduated in the literature of Urdu language as the main subject. With well-planned strategies, you can easily score well in the Urdu literature. Interest should be the prime criteria for choosing any optional. Each UPSC mains Urdu paper consists of 250 marks. Duration for each Urdu language mains paper is 3 hours. Here is a detailed syllabus of UPSC Urdu mains exam.

Development of Urdu Language
a) Development of Indo-Aryan (i) Old Indo-Aryan (ii) Middle Indo Aryan (iii) New Indo Aryan
b) Western Hindi and its dialects BrijBhasha Khadi Boli, HaryanaviKannauji, Bundeli-Theories about the origin of Urdu Language
c) Dakhani Urdu-Origin and development, its significant linguistic features.
d) Social and Cultural roots of Urdu language-and its distinctive features. Script, Phonology, Morphology, Vocabulary.

Section-B

a) Genres and their development :

(ii) Prose : Novel, Short Story, Dastan, Drama, Inshaiya, Khutoot, Biography.

b) Significant features of :
(i) Deccani, Delhi and Lucknow schools (ii) Sir Syed movement, Romantic movement, Progressive movement, Modernism.
c) Literary Criticism and its development with reference to Hali, Shibli, Kaleemuddin Ahmad, Ehtisham Hussain, Ale-Ahmad Suroor.
d) Essay writing (covering literary and imaginative topics)

UPSC MAINS LANGUAGE PAPER URDU SYLLABUS Paper-II

(Answers must be written in Urdu)

This paper will require first hand reading of the texts prescribed and will be designed to test the candidate’s critical ability.
